About Fin - Budget Tracker

Fin is a personal finance app from the developer Thomas Brandstaetter, listed in the App Store as Fin: Budget Planner App under Finance and Lifestyle. Its pitch is deliberately low-friction: you open it and start entering numbers, with no sign-up screen, and it keeps working without a connection.

Day to day you log what came in and what went out, then sort each entry into a category. Categories can be recolored and given an emoji, which makes a long list scannable at a glance. A transaction is not just an amount: you can pin a photo, a PDF, the weather and a location to it, so the receipt for a repair or a dinner stays attached to the line it belongs to. Recurring bills can be set up once instead of retyped every month.

The privacy stance is unusual for a finance app. There is no link to your bank, the data stays on the phone, and it only leaves the device if you choose to sync through iCloud. Passcode, Face ID and Touch ID can lock the app on top of that.

Version and requirements
