Phone Drive: Read, Share, Play

Think of a flash drive that needs no cable: Phone Drive turns an iPhone into one. Download the Phone Drive IPA for iPhone from builds.io and keep documents, music and videos in a single place you can reach from a laptop over Wi-Fi.

About Phone Drive

Phone Drive comes from Eightythree Technology and is listed under Utilities and Productivity. Its App Store name is Phone Drive Pro, and the package inside the IPA carries that same name. The basic workflow is simple: open the app on the phone, type the address it shows into a browser, Finder or Windows Explorer on a Mac or PC on the same network, and drag files across in either direction. A USB route through iTunes is mentioned as an alternative.

The second half of the app is a library for everything you pull in. A document viewer opens Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, RTF, HTML and plain text, plus PDFs. Images, movies and audio files have their own viewers, and a text editor lets you change plain files and source code directly on the phone.

Cloud services can be attached next to local storage. The store page lists Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, FTP, WebDAV, Yandex Disk and iCloud Drive, and it notes that cloud connections need an extra in-app purchase. Streaming video or music straight from a cloud account is supported, so you do not have to download a big file just to watch it.

Phone Drive key features

• Multiple cloud accounts managed side by side with local files

• File operations such as copy, move, rename, delete, zip, unzip and unrar
• Voice recorder, camera capture and photo import for creating new files
• Passcode lock with Touch ID and Face ID support
• Nearby sharing with other iPhones and iPads over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi

Same build as the App Store

This is the regular app without changes, so what you get on builds.io matches the store build. The store lists Phone Drive for iPhone and iPad with a single purchase covering both, and it requires a reasonably recent iOS release. Some features, cloud storage in particular, may involve in-app purchases, so check the options inside the app before you rely on them.

Phone Drive is listed on builds.io as an IPA for iPhone and iPad, and it goes onto the device straight from the page with no PC or cable.
