What is Brain Test 4?

The App Store name is Brain Test 4: Tricky Friends, made by UNICO STUDIO, the team that made the earlier games in the series, from the first Tricky Puzzles through the stories and quests editions. It is in Games with family and trivia tags, rated 4+, and it first reached the App Store in April 2023. Its makers describe it as a return to basics for the series, written for veterans who want harder tricks.

Every level is a short puzzle in which things are not what they look like. You tap, drag and rearrange the scene to find the unexpected solution, and if you get stuck there is a hint system to nudge you without spoiling it. The art keeps the familiar Brain Test look, with animated characters and a joke in many of the dialogue lines.

The new part is the cast. A group called the Tricky Club includes figures such as Tricky Lily and Astrodog, and joining it lets you unlock more characters. You can also customise both the characters and the environments, which gives the long run of levels some personality.

Version and requirements

This is the unmodified App Store build. It is free to download and needs iOS 15.0 or later. The developers also mention that Brain Test 5 is on the way, and the latest update itself only lists bug fixes and performance work. Because levels are short and self-contained, it is easy to play one or two while waiting for something and put the phone away again.
