The author's argument is that willpower alone loses against feeds designed to keep you scrolling, so the app adds friction to the apps you pick. It does not block them like a Screen Time limit; it delays access, which the author describes as a psychological difference, and the pause is meant to make you ask whether you actually want to open the app.

You can attach it to any app you want to use more deliberately. The store lists social media as the most common case, followed by games, video streaming, dating, trading and adult content. If you get stuck in a feed anyway, there is an emergency brake called Re-Intervention: after a time you set, for example five minutes, you are taken out of the app and have to go through the pause again to earn more time.
