About Encode

Encode is built by Upskew Pty. Ltd. and filed under Education in the App Store, where it has been present since 2017. It is aimed at absolute beginners, so no earlier experience is assumed, and each concept is explained step by step before you are asked to use it.

The main courses are Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and SQL. Smaller mini-courses add R, Swift, Java and the command line, which is useful when you want a taste of a language before committing. Every lesson fits a short session and mixes explanation with quizzes, exercises and challenges, so you write real code from the first lesson instead of only reading about it.

A built-in playground removes the usual setup problems: you can test and run snippets on the phone without installing anything. Daily streaks and a hearts system turn study into something closer to a game, and a personal certificate of completion marks a finished course. The store text pitches it at people who want to build websites, automate small tasks, analyse data or move toward a career in tech.

Version and requirements

The changelog states that the updated IPA has the subscription unlocked and works on iOS 15.0 or newer. The original app is free in the App Store. Its last release notes mention design adjustments and bug fixes, so the course content itself is what matters here.
