At its core, Braille Academy teaches the Braille characters representing all 26 English alphabet letters, numbers from 0 to 9, 12 most frequently used punctuation marks, 8 special symbols, 23 alphabetic wordsigns, 38 contractions, 12 wordsigns, 34 groupsigns, and 75 short-form words. Through 59 levels and 29 challenges, the app trains and tests more than 90% of the entire Unified English Braille knowledge, offering a comprehensive mastery of the system.

About Braille

Braille is a tactile reading and writing system created for visually impaired individuals. It consists of characters made up of raised dots arranged in rectangular blocks called cells. The unique pattern of dots allows users to distinguish letters, numbers, punctuation, and special symbols by touch. Invented by Louis Braille, who lost his sight as a child, this system has become a crucial tool for literacy among the blind.

How Braille Academy Works

The app employs two principal teaching methods: gradual introduction and focused repetition. Learning material is divided into chapters and subdivided into levels to ensure a clear, step-wise progression. In addition to learning Braille, the app also serves as a memory training tool with fun and engaging exercises.

Each level introduces new Braille characters with limited repetition to help you learn effectively. Within a level, the Info button provides helpful tips, while an unlimited hint option offers correct answers when needed, fostering a supportive learning environment. Once familiar with the material, you can advance to a challenge where no hints are allowed and a high standard must be maintained (fewer than three mistakes) to pass.

After successfully completing all challenges and levels in a chapter, you can claim a certificate as a mark of achievement, encouraging continued motivation and progress.
