What’s unlocked in this update

TOR Browser: Onion VPN & Orbot has been patched with the subscription unlocked, giving you access to the app’s premium features in the updated iOS IPA.

Privacy tools are only useful when you actually switch them on, and TOR Browser: Onion VPN & Orbot bundles several of them in one place. Download the TOR Browser IPA for iPhone and use its premium VPN features with the subscription unlocked. The same app appears on builds.io as TOR Suite, and inside the IPA it is named TOR VPN.

About the app

The developer is STELLAR APPS LIMITED, and the listing is under Utilities with Productivity as a second genre, rated 17+. It has been on the store since September 2016. One caveat from the developer is worth repeating: this is an independent product with no link to The Tor Project, Inc. It borrows the Tor network for anonymous browsing, and every other service in it is the studio's own work.

The feature set has three parts. For browsing, traffic is routed through Tor so that activity is harder to trace and each session is isolated. For the VPN side there are international servers with AES-256 encryption and no bandwidth caps. For safety there is a URL scanner that flags phishing and malicious sites, a Wi-Fi scanner for public and open networks, an ad blocker that strips trackers and pop-ups, and extra protection for crypto-related sites.

What the TOR Browser tweak unlocks

  • Subscription unlocked, giving paid access to the VPN
  • AES-256 encrypted VPN with international servers and unlimited bandwidth
  • Real-time scanning of URLs for phishing and malicious content
  • Wi-Fi network safety checks before you connect
  • Ad and tracker blocking built into the browser

Version and cost in the store

The changelog describes a patched build with the subscription unlocked for premium features. In the App Store the premium plans run 3.99 dollars weekly, 9.99 monthly or 69.99 yearly, each with a three-day trial, and Premium also promises zero ads and faster VPN speeds. The app is free, requires iOS 15.0 or later, and its newest update lists better VPN connectivity and minor bug fixes.

To try the private browsing setup, get it from builds.io; one tap installs the IPA on your iPhone with no PC.
