Breath-hold training with the paywall removed: Nea is an apnea trainer, and you can download the Nea IPA for iPhone with its subscription features already open. This build is a tweak for iPhone, not the stock App Store copy.

What is Nea?

In the App Store the app is called Apnea Trainer: Nea and is made by keinois OU, filed under Health & Fitness. It first appeared in April 2024. It is written for freedivers but also targets surfers, spearfishers and anyone who spends time underwater and wants a calmer, longer breath hold. The training idea rests on tables: structured sets of holds and rests that you work through, with the load personalised to your own maximum.

You begin by taking a max breath-hold test, and the result sets your level. From there the app offers static apnea tables, apnea walks, relaxation tables meant to delay the urge to breathe, and separate CO2 and O2 tables for tolerance to carbon dioxide and for efficient use of oxygen. Charts track how your holds change over time, a training log lets you record how a session felt, and guides explain each technique. Reminders keep a routine going, and Home Screen widgets show your latest activity.

Free tier, requirements and what is new

According to the store page, the free version already includes static CO2 and O2 tables and apnea walk tables adapted to your max hold, while history is limited and the PRO plan is paid. Note that the current App Store release asks for iOS 26.0, so older systems will not run it. The latest update added a Liquid Glass design, saving of completed sets when a workout is cancelled halfway, and new timeframe selectors for the activity charts.
