About Heroes vs. Hordes

The App Store title is Heroes vs Hordes: Survival RPG, by Swift Games GmbH. It sits in Games with action and adventure tags, is rated 12+ and came out in September 2022. The setting is Midlantica, a fantasy world on the brink, where heroes from every faction hold back an old darkness that spills out of tears between worlds.

Combat is real time and played with one hand, and the developer stresses that there is no idle auto-play, so every dodge and upgrade is your own choice. Across a run you loot, level and upgrade, forge weapons into legendary ones and pick from more than a hundred heroes, weapons and skills to create builds that range from armoured tanks to explosive spellcasters.

Variety comes from several modes: a roguelite Campaign through story chapters and bosses, monthly 30-day Adventure events, weekend Arenas, Boss Brawl and Hero Clash league challenges and Guild Missions with allies. Scenery runs from cursed forests to frozen wastelands and arcane battlefields.

Latest version notes

The six options above are the ones the changelog lists. The store version is free and needs iOS 16.0 or later. Its newest update, 11.5.0, brought a second Ghostbusters event with new heroes, the Ecto Goggles weapon and the Terror Dogs pet, plus new pets, storyline music for heroes and quality-of-life changes to Guild Wars and Dice Dash. The same notes say that Hero Tales are coming soon, so the game keeps receiving content on a regular rhythm.
