About Head Soccer
Head Soccer is made by D&D Dream Corp. and appeared in the App Store back in 2012, which makes it older than most of the games around it in the Sports and Casual sections. Its premise is simple on purpose. Two oversized heads face each other across a short field, you move, jump and kick, and the first to outscore the other wins. Physics decides how the ball bounces, so a lucky rebound can matter as much as a planned shot.
The depth comes from the extras. The developer lists 103 avatars, and each has its own special shot, with the dragon shot, ice shot and lightning shot named on the store page. The developer counts eight game modes, among them Arcade, Tournament, Survival and League, plus Head Cup, Death Mode, Fight Mode and the Awaken Mode. A pet system and a body system let you stack bonuses, and leaderboards through Game Center make scores comparable.
Multiplayer comes in two forms: a Bluetooth mode for friends in the same room and online matches over Game Center.
The studio behind it, D&D Dream Games, has a catalog that also includes Head Basketball, a sibling in the same big-head sports style, which shows how long this formula has worked for them.
