What is Astro Defenders?

Astro Defenders is a defense strategy game from the publisher PLAYHARD. In the App Store it appears as Astro Defenders : Capt.Couch under Games, and it only arrived in January 2026, so it is one of the newer entries in the catalog. The story sets up a peaceful planet that has been overrun by insect-like invaders, and the legendary heroes of the title step in to push back.

Each stage is split into several waves. You begin with one randomly picked hero, collect resources during the fight and spend them to summon more units. The tactical layer is in placement: between waves you can move your units around, so the squad that survived the last attack may need a new arrangement for the next one. The developer stresses that these bugs feel as relentless as a zombie horde and are tougher than usual. Heroes have quirky designs, and the variety is part of the appeal when you build a lineup for a boss raid.

Besides the main waves, there are boss raids against huge monsters, and a mode called Clash of Empires that sets up royal survival challenges where you take on enemy kingdoms.
